I didn’t come to City Council because I had all the answers. I came because I believed Raleigh deserved leadership that listens. Long before I ever ran for office, I sat in the back of community meetings as a resident trying to understand how my city worked. I learned government from the ground up, not from a podium, but from a folding chair.
Everything I do as your City Councilor is shaped by that experience. I believe government should be understandable, accessible, and human. I believe residents shouldn’t have to fight to be heard. And I believe real progress happens when we build trust before we build policy.
That’s why my work focuses on three things: strengthening public safety and infrastructure, planning responsibly for growth, and rebuilding the systems that invite the public into decision-making; like our boards, commissions, and neighborhood groups. Whether it’s investing in stormwater, improving transit and safety, or expanding community education, my goal is the same: make City Hall work better for the people who rely on it every day.
Increase the supply of affordable housing, provide financial assistance to first-time homebuyers, and offer grants that help residents renovate and remain in their homes. Leverage city-owned land for affordable housing, promote grants that support small businesses and inclusive development to broaden Raleigh’s tax base, and maintain funding for first responders, infrastructure, parks, and community nonprofits that assist those in need.
Invest in infrastructure improvements, including street paving, traffic calming, expanded bus service, micro transit, sidewalks, and pedestrian pathways.
Work with community partners to strengthen stormwater management, ensure Raleigh Water has the resources needed to keep our drinking water clean, keep parks and greenways well-maintained, advance environmental justice, and combat litter through both cleanup initiatives and stronger enforcement.
Invest in the retention of law enforcement and Raleigh Fire Department personnel, ensure development projects take the fire master plan and emergency response times into account, fund the Raleigh CARES program for crisis response, and work with Wake County to address the EMS shortage.
Continue hosting monthly meetings to hear from constituents, encourage participation in local government decision-making through citizen advisory councils, boards, and commissions, and allow residents to join council meetings virtually.
This site isn’t just a list of positions. It’s an invitation.
An invitation to learn how your city works.
An invitation to show up when decisions are being made.
An invitation to imagine what Raleigh can be — together.
Because the most important platform I’ll ever stand on is this one: your trust.
